They are certainly counting on the vast majority of the Minis being upgraded. The strategy has to be for people to want more instances and upgrade, since SSL are bearing the hardware cost of the upgrade whether or not it is bought by the customer. It's an odd thing to sell partially disabled hardware, since the cost of manufacturing is unchanged.Īnd so, I think the limitation in plugin count seeming so low is very much a part of the plan. The upgrade is turning on hardware already in the box, but disabled from the factory. What I find interesting is that since Duende is hardware based, then unless you have to send the unit back (which I see no mention of) then all of the hardware (DSP chips) is in place when you buy the thing. ![]()
